Male pattern baldness

Male pattern baldness

Male pattern baldness is a condition that can be caused by a combination of your inherited genes and changing hormones. You can inherit these genes from either your mother or your father so it can affect you even if your father still has a full head of hair.

How to know if it may be male pattern baldness

This hair loss typically begins as a receding hairline, gradually moving backwards, followed by a thinning crown. If Androgenic Alopecia or male pattern baldness is your problem, you may find some similarity in the Hamilton-Norwood scale – shown below:

This illustrates some of the usual patterns of loss often caused by Androgenic Alopecia or male pattern baldness. The sooner this hair loss is treated, the easier it is to return to a full style.

Our experts, who will also be able to tell you how your hair is likely to progress, can diagnose this easily. We will then create a personalized treatment package, which guarantees results, for both the long and short term. It is much easier to treat hair earlier in the process, so visiting an expert straight away is crucial.

If you are in the early stages of loss, then preventive or partially restorative treatments such as laser therapy could be ideal to stem the thinning and optimize hair growth.

Who does it affect?

Male pattern baldness can affect you at any age. In some men, the hair loss process may be slower, which makes it harder to detect until it becomes more advanced.

If you think you may be experiencing hair loss, then please give one of our friendly team a call for an informal chat. We are more than happy to meet with you for a free consultation or if you are unable to make it to one of our studios, we can arrange a phone consultation. Majority of our staff have experienced hair loss, which has been treated by us, so we understand how you may feel.

Below is one of our clients who was at an advanced stage of male pattern baldness when he visited us for a consultation. This stage of hair loss was easy to diagnose, but one key indicator in the early stages of his hair loss would have been that he was only losing hair at the top of his head, whilst the sides remained thick and full. If your hair follows this pattern you may be suffering from male pattern baldness. If the hair loss has been allowed to advance as much as our client pictured below, then treatment will be given slowly, so the return of the hair is discreet. International Hair Studio’s “Step by Step” treatment is designed so hair can return slowly over time, helping to prevent your friends and family from noticing any treatment has been undertaken!
