Female pattern baldness

Female pattern baldness

Female pattern baldness is a condition caused by inherited genes. You inherit these genes from either your mother or your father so it can affect you even when your mother still has a full head of hair in her late years. Although the condition is more common among men, it is also the most common condition that is seen in women.

Below is an example of one of our female clients who was experiencing thinning on the top of her head. She came to IHS early in hair loss, which meant we could offer her a treatment to restore her hair density.

How to know if it may be female pattern baldness

This hair loss condition occurs differently in females as it does to males. With male pattern baldness the hair loss is experienced in a thinning of the crown or receding hairline, whereas in women it tends to experience a diffuse thinning throughout the top of their head.

Our experts, who will also be able to tell you how your hair is likely to progress, can diagnose female pattern baldness. Depending on the progression of your hair, along with how it is likely to continue, we will create a personalized treatment package for you that will guarantee results, not just in the short term, but for the long term too. It is easier to treat hair when it hasn’t progressed to one of the later stages, so it is important to visit an expert straight away.

If you are in the early stages of hair loss, then preventative or partially restorative treatments like Laser Therapy may be ideal to stem the thinning and optimize the hair growth. Low Level laser beam technology is used for the early treatment of hair loss, and has proven to be extremely successful at arresting loss and regaining density.

Who does it affect?

Many women start to lose hair as early as their twenties, but it is likely to be more noticeable around the age of 40 and it may worsen once a women reaches her menopause. A large percentage of women lose hair as they get older, and on average 50% of women will experience some kind of hair thinning or loss by the time they reach their fifties.

If you think you may be experiencing hair loss, then please give one of our friendly team a call for an informal chat. We are more than happy to meet with you for a free consultation or if you are unable to make it to one of our studios, we can arrange a phone consultation. Majority of our staff have experienced hair loss, which has been treated by us, so we understand how you may feel.

Below is one of our clients who came to IHS after visiting many other clinics for consultations. Following her free consultation with our consultant, Richard, she knew she was in safe hands and that she would finally start seeing results, while feeling comfortable in IHS’s friendly atmosphere. She then began a course of laser therapy in order to restore the density of her hair.
